Human Lives Human Rights: The British Consulate in Jerusalem expressed its criticism towards Israel on Thursday for demolishing a school in the occupied West Bank.
The UK called on Tel Aviv to guarantee the right to education for Palestinian children, emphasizing that all children deserve access to education. The statement was made by the British Consulate on X, previously known as Twitter.
According to an early Thursday statement from the Palestinian Education Ministry, Israeli authorities demolished the Ein Samia School. This school, situated east of Ramallah, served students from the nearby Bedouin community.
The ministry added that the demolition was justified by the alleged absence of a license.
Additionally, UNESCO Palestine reported that the school was destroyed shortly before the commencement of the new academic year.
On X, it was reported that within the past year, three schools have been demolished, impacting a total of 78 students. The statement further highlighted that there are currently 58 schools that are still at risk of being demolished.
